Cold Fields – Egg Shells
Summary: An interesting taster of the new EP, with an added electro vibe the band seem to really be finding their style.

Birmingham based Cold Fields return with a lead single from their forthcoming EP of the same name ‘Egg Shells’. Following a successful debut in 2012 with the eclectic and moody ‘Hands Like These’ EP I was keen to see how the band have progressed since this release.
Their sound appears to have matured on this single, following a more electro route which is welcomed as their previous tracks were well finished yet lacked some kind of individuality. Their merging of melancholy vocals liken this single to The Streets early work yet the track is so much more complex, with a silky support of a female vocalist and a precise, pulsing electro beat.
I really like the direction this band are taking, I would only note that the vocals are still sounding a little mimicking of The Streets, there needs to be some originality added but in terms of production and instrumental work, the band are a million miles from 2012. A really interesting taster of the new EP.
You can hear the track through the band’s soundcloud profile.
